Downtown Abacoa's latest attraction, Golden Cub Mini Golf, recently celebrated its grand opening on July 23, 2018. The course is owned by Josh Simon, principal of FLF Holdings. FLF Holdings, a south Florida and Chicago real estate ownership, development and management company, acquired all of Downtown Abacoa's commercial space and the parcel where the course was built in 2010.
This isn't your average mini golf course however. The 18-hole course at the Golden Cub was designed by a golf course architect. The architect works for Nicklaus Design, a company founded by Palm Beach County native and retired professional golfer, Jack Nicklaus. The course was designed with full-size golf course philosophies in mind which makes this course fun for families, casual golfers and seasoned players alike. Each hole is strategically sloped with undulations emphasizing pace when playing this mini-golf course. There are plenty of high-risk, high-reward paths to the cup to tempt players which makes for a great family night out.
Golden Cub Mini Golf features a snack shack which serves 24 flavors of ice cream, milkshakes and floats, as well as beer and wine for the adults. Don't worry if your wine glass runs empty when you're on the course though. One quick call to the snack shack and drinks can be delivered to you while you're on the course. Now that's service!
Another unique feature of the course is that a portion of proceeds goes to the Nicklaus Children's Health Care Foundation indefinitely. Founded in 2004 the foundation strives to provide families access to world class health care so #puttforapurpose!
