About Food Trucks
Have you been hearing about food trucks from your friends and social media but don’t know where to find them? Luckily a local venue has the answer! If you’re not familiar with food trucks, these aren’t your typical “side of the highway” food service vehicles but rather typically the extension of a brick and mortar restaurant. Instead of having to travel to an establishment not within your usual reach these gourmet food trucks come to you offering their signature menu options.
Where and When is the Food Truck Invasion
The Food Truck Invasion takes place in Town Center at Abacoa the second Friday of every month from 5:30pm-10pm. Town Center is located just off Donald Ross and Central boulevard in Jupiter. If you are unfamiliar with the area enter 1200 Town Center Drive Jupiter, FL 33458 into your GPS for navigation. Abacoa event organizers close off the central street through Town Center and line the road with food trucks. The trucks run down most of Town Center Drive as well as Crescent Drive, just in front of the Abacoa outdoor Amphitheatre next to Roger Dean Stadium. The easiest way to get to the event is to take Central boulevard to the Main Street exit of the southerly most roundabout. Once on Main Street, follow the lighted signs for the free parking garage or utilize the large open parking lot nearby. This is a popular local event so it is suggested to arrive around the start of the event to secure parking and to get a spot on the lawn of the Amphitheater if desired. Don’t worry about tickets because admission to this event is free. I haven’t run into a food truck that doesn’t take debit and credit cards so cash is not a necessity but the nearby bars generally run cash-only specials on certain beers and cocktails.
What is it like attending the Food Truck Invasion
As per the event organizers website, “There is something for everyone”. The diversity of options the food trucks bring cooked to order is truly amazing. Everything imaginable from BBQ, tacos, Italian, seafood, Greek, gourmet sandwiches, and even vegetarian options. There are too many to list and there is usually at least one new truck every time I go. If you’re done enjoying one of the many options but are craving something sweet stop by the Dough Dough’s Dounts truck, or a get a hand-dipped ice cream bar at HipPOP’s, or even good ‘ol ice cream in a cone at the Cold Stone Creamery truck. Be mindful though as these trucks generally run out of food toward the end of the night so make sure to get in line for the truck that interests you most before it gets too late.
If one of the many food trucks are not serving anything that interests your taste buds do not fear, one of the many diverse restaurant options in Town Center will. Also into craft beer? You have come to the right place. Located in Town Center adjacent to the food trucks is Jupiter’s first craft brewery. Civil Society Brewing serves up a wide variety of their onsite brews and the brewery offers up a friendly and hip vibe. Also adjacent to where the food trucks line the street is Das Biergarten. This Germanic gastropub serves American dishes with a German twist and 70% of their beers are from local breweries including hard-to-find crafts from around the state and country so if you have been looking for the craft that got away, odds are Das Biergarten has it.
The Food Truck Invasion is a great local, family friendly event which brings the community together over fantastic mobile gourmet dining. Being a very popular local event the streets can get a bit crowded towards 10pm but overall the atmosphere is wonderful and the setting among the manicured streets of Town Center at Abacoa provide an urban, city like feel unique to the Jupiter area that attracts visitors and locals alike.
